It functions as a rust-preventive primer on metal surfaces and as a sealer on old painted surfaces.

Pigments may settle and the paint surface may appear dark.
Be sure to stir well before painting to ensure the color turns silver.
If the rust is deep, dilute it with tap water to twice the amount and apply the first coat to help it penetrate deeper into the rust.
Apply the second coat at normal dilution (up to 5%).
If you are using only the Rust Hold coating without applying a top coat, apply two or more coats.
